Welcome
Welcome to the LabPathPro course, IBMS Registration Training Portfolio V5.0: A Practical Guide for Candidates.
This free course is intended for biomedical science students, trainee Biomedical Scientists and new candidates preparing to complete the IBMS Registration Training Portfolio.
The portfolio can initially appear complicated because it combines workplace training, scientific knowledge, professional practice, reflective learning and the Health and Care Professions Council Standards of Proficiency. This course breaks these requirements into manageable steps.
During this course, you will learn how to:
- understand the structure and purpose of the portfolio;
- plan the required evidence pieces;
- select evidence from authentic laboratory practice;
- map evidence to the HCPC Standards of Proficiency;
- write clear justifications and reflections;
- apply confidentiality and anonymisation requirements;
- organise evidence for OneFile;
- respond constructively to trainer feedback; and
- prepare progressively for portfolio verification.
How to use this course
Work through the topics in order. Each topic contains short lessons, practical examples and knowledge checks. Keep notes as you progress and complete the planning activities using the accompanying learner workbook.
This course should support discussions with your training officer, portfolio assessor or verifier. It does not replace workplace training or the official IBMS portfolio requirements.
Using the learner workbook
