Course learning outcomes

By the end of this course, you should be able to:

1. Describe the purpose of the IBMS Registration Training Portfolio.
2. Recognise the structure of Version 5.0, including its sections and modules.
3. Explain the 30-piece evidence model.
4. Distinguish between mandatory and candidate-choice evidence.
5. Select suitable evidence from routine laboratory practice.
6. Differentiate between knowledge-based and competence-based evidence.
7. Map evidence to the appropriate HCPC Standards of Proficiency.
8. Write clear evidence justifications and reflective accounts.
9. Apply confidentiality, anonymisation, referencing and academic-integrity requirements.
10. Organise portfolio work and prepare progressively for OneFile and verification.

Learning approach

The course focuses on practical application. It is not intended to teach candidates how to produce generic essays. Its purpose is to help candidates select, explain and reflect upon authentic evidence from their own training and professional practice.
